The dairy animal position-determining device (3) comprises a mm-wavelength radar device which transmits a radar signal having a wavelength in the mm range. As a result thereof, the system can quickly and reliably determine the position of the dairy animal, as a basis for performing the teat-related operation, in particular for the swinging in of a robot arm, without being susceptible to dust, moisture or condensation.
