The subject of the present invention is a homogeneous aqueous solution of injectable chitosan containing a chitosan having a degree of acetylation of less than 20%, advantageously less than 10%, said solution containing between 0.1 and 6%, advantageously between 1 and 3, 5%, by weight of chitosan, said solution having a pH below 6.2, advantageously between 5 and 6.2, said solution containing no chitosan having a degree of acetylation greater than 20%, for the prevention or treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration, and / or pain associated with degeneration or pathologies of the intervertebral disc. La présente invention a pour objet une solution aqueuse homogène de chitosane injectable contenant un chitosane ayant un degré d'acétylation inférieur à 20%, avantageusement inférieur à 10%, ladite solution contenant entre 0,1 et 6 %, avantageusement entre 1 et 3,5 %, en poids de chitosane, ladite solution présentant un pH inférieur à 6,2, avantageusement compris entre 5 et 6,2, ladite solution ne contenant pas de chitosane ayant un degré d'acétylation supérieur à 20%, pour la prévention ou le traitement de la dégénérescence du disque intervertébral, et/ou des douleurs associées à la dégénérescence ou à des pathologies du disque intervertébral.
