A hypochlorous acid aqueous solution having an excellent sterilizing effect and safety is provided. The hypochlorous acid aqueous solution according to the present invention is a hypochlorous acid aqueous solution present in the range of pH 5.5 to 6.5, and is dissolved in the raw material only with purified water from Japanese Pharmacopoeia. The raw materials are sodium hypochlorite for food additives and dilute hydrochloric acid of Japanese Pharmacopeia.
