The present invention relates to a composition for anti-inflammation or enhancing immune functions containing a Halocynthia aurantium tunic fatty acid as an active component. A fatty acid extracted from a Halocynthia aurantium tunic of the present invention inhibits the production of TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β, inhibits the expression of COX-2 and iNOS, inhibits a signaling pathway of MAPK and NF-κB, inhibits the production of PGE_2, and produces nitric oxide (NO), thereby being useful as the composition for anti-inflammation or enhancing immune functions.본 발명은 붉은 멍게 튜닉 지방산을 유효성분으로 포함하는 항염증 또는 면역기능 증강용 조성물에 관한 것으로, 본 발명의 붉은 멍게 튜닉에서 추출한 지방산은 TNF-α, IL-6, IL-1β의 생성을 억제하고, COX-2, iNOS의 발현을 억제하며, MAPK, NF-κB의 신호전달 경로 억제 및 PGE2의 생성을 억제하고 NO(nitric oxide, NO) 생성하는 효과가 있어 항염증 또는 면역기능 증강 조성물로 유용할 수 있다.
