A method of measuring tube thickness using an infusion pump comprisesproviding theinfusion pump including a fixture having a loading portion and a pressuresensor, the pressuresensor located on a wall of the loading portion； enabling a tube to be loadedinto the loadingportion such that the tube imparts a force on the pressure sensor thatcontacts an outside wall ofthe tube, wherein the tube is positioned and arranged to deliver a medicalfluid from theinfusion pump to a patient； enabling the force imparted on the pressure sensorby the outsidewall of the tube to be electronically recorded； and enabling the thickness ofthe tube to beelectronically determined based on the force imparted by the tube on thepressure sensor.
