In suspension tests for action against Propionibacterium acnesat pH 4.5, a combination of 1% lactic acid (Ia) and 0.2% decane-1,2-diol (IIa) reduced the bacterial count (CFU per ml) from ca. 2 x 10 5>；to ca. 2 x 10 2>；(compared with ca. 10 4>；for 1% (Ia) alone and 10 5>；for 0.2% (IIa) alone) in 15 minutes.
