The present invention relates to mainly a herbal composition comprising Ceropegia spiralis (l-5%w/w), Memecylon jadhavii (2-4% w/w) and Glochidion tomentosum (4-5% w/w). The composition further has exogenously added sorbitol (1-2%), malonic acid (0.5- 2% w/w) and glutamic, acid (2-4% w/w). The composition of present invention is useful in treatment and control of liver toxicity and digestion problems and used-as an oral dosage form.The hepatoprotective activity of the polyherbal syrup against the combined model might be due to the synergistic effect of the phytochemicals present in all three selected plant extracts along with exogenously added substances effective as hepatoprotective (liver stimulant) syrup.
