PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide useful sericin nanofibers and sericin/fibroin composite nanofibers which can be obtained by electrospinning and can be water-insolubilized, and methods for producing the same; to provide a technology for water-insolubilizing these nanofibers; and to provide a material with enhanced dyeability, a metal ion adsorbent and a material with enhanced chemical resistance which comprise the water-insolubilized nanofibers.

SOLUTION: The sericin nanofibers comprise silk sericin. The silk sericin is sericin derived from cocoon layers of naked pupae (gene symbol Nd), sericin silkworms (gene symbol Nd-s) or Sericin Hope, or the silk sericin is liquid sericin in silk glands taken out of the interiors of these silkworm larvae or sericin obtained by coagulation of the liquid sericin.
