PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus using a plurality of ultrasonic probes.SOLUTION: The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus comprises the plurality of ultrasonic probes 1, and delay means 4 and 7 disposed in the respective ultrasonic probes for electronically delaying the timing for ultrasonic transducers to transmit or receive ultrasonic waves. The ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus further comprises a position/direction detecting means 10, and a delay control signal generating means for generating delay control signals to control the signal delay for the plurality of ultrasonic transducers in the plurality of ultrasonic probes by using the information obtained from the means 10.
