The application discloses an apparatus for applying sub-atmospheric pressure to a wound in conjunction with the use of a hemostatic agent attached to a support with pores of less than 500 microns and more than 10 microns and which is made up of: a) a device that delivers a vacuum pressure in the range of 0 to 250 mm Hg； b) a seal that is semipermeable that covers the wound； c) a tube connecting the appliance to the seal； and d) a wound healing appliance comprising: (i) a support that promotes uniform distribution of pressure within the wound and (ii) a hemostatic agent attached to the support. Further the application discloses the apparatus where any of: poly-N-acetylglucosamine, collagen, fibrin, thrombin, oxidized regenerated cellulose, chitin, chitosan, calcium alginate, cryoprecipate, platelets and blood clotting cascade factors including Factor VII, VIII, IX are the hemostatic agent. Further the application discloses where the support for the hemostatic agent is: porus sponge, a screen, foam.
