The invention relates to a system for creating one or more escape routes in an outer side of a building in the case of a calamity, for instance a fire. A system according to the preamble is known in the prior art. The known system comprises a door or a window with associated frames. The drawback of the known system is that in emergencies a door or a window often does not provide sufficient options for evacuating all persons and/or animals from the building in time. In addition, the layout of the building in many cases makes the use of a door or a window as escape route more difficult. It is the object of the invention to provide a system according to the preamble which does not have the stated drawbacks.
