A hybrid, detachable dental attachment device (10) comprising a cap (80) for securing a dental appliance having an open end (83), an inner cavity (95) and a first attachment portion (100)； an abutment (20) comprising an upper portion (30) and a second attachment portion (25) configured for attachment to a tooth root or implant, the upper portion having a socket (34) facing away from the second attachment portion (25)； and a one-piece removable ball (15) positioned between the cap (80) and the abutment (20) and having an upper end engaged to the cap (80) and a head portion (87) engaged in the socket (34)； wherein the engagement of the head portion (87) and the abutment (34) has a retention force sufficient for rigid attachment of the device (10) to the appliance and reduces the risk of removal of the device (10).
