PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive blank for a fishing rod which maintains high rigidity while fitting, and can easily release the fitting.
SOLUTION: This fishing rod 10 has a first section 13 to the butt section 17. An elastic member 24 is disposed between adjacent sections, for example, a rear end portion 36 of a third section 15 and a tip end portion 32 of a butt section 16. The elastic member 24 is fit into the tip end portion 32 of the butt section 17. The cross-sectional shape of the elastic member 24 is a spindle shape, and is smoothly expanded on the inside. When the rear end portion 36 of the third section 15 is fit onto the tip end portion 32 of the butt section 16, the elastic member 24 is pressed by the rear end portion 36 and deformed. The elastic member 24 is formed of a polyurethane-based thermoplastic elastomer, and its hardness is set to Hs45 to Hs85.
