PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device enabling an acoustic wave receiver to move in a reduced period of time, and a method for controlling the movement of an acoustic wave receiver.SOLUTION: A target speed at which an acoustic wave receiver 5 is moved during measurement of acoustic waves is calculated by using data on a cycle of pulsed light generation as well as data on the interval of target measuring positions of a specimen.
