The information processing apparatus includes an image data acquiring unit configured to acquire the image data an information acquiring unit configured to acquire identification information which identifies a type of the acoustic probe and a correcting unit configured to correct, based on the identification information, an effect on an image value of the image data attributable to a variation in light intensities, at the plurality of positions inside the object, of light irradiated via the light irradiating unit.
