A method for the management of secretions in an intubated patient by means of an endotracheal tube (2) to which an inflatable cuff (3) is externally associated, comprises the steps of inflating the inflatable cuff (3) for isolating the broncho-pulmonary zone of the patient (P) from the external environment, generating a succession of overpressures (P1, P2) inside the endotracheal tube (2) in order to induce breathing in the patient, and a step of deflating the inflatable cuff (3) during the generation of one of the overpressures (P1, P2) in order to permit a drainage of the secretions (S) generated by the patient (P) along the trachea towards the outside.L'invention concerne un procédé de gestion des sécrétions chez un patient intubé au moyen d'un tube endotrachéal (2) auquel est associé de façon externe un ballonnet gonflable (3), comprenant les étapes consistant à gonfler le ballonnet gonflable (3) pour isoler la zone broncho-pulmonaire du patient (P) de l'environnement extérieur, à produire une succession de surpressions (P1, P2) à l'intérieur du tube endotrachéal (2) afin d'induire la respiration chez le patient, et une étape consistant à dégonfler le ballonnet gonflable (3) pendant la production de l'une des surpressions (P1, P2) afin de permettre un drainage des sécrétions (S) produites par le patient (P) le long de la trachée vers l'extérieur.
