There is provided an irrigation pipe inlet end fitting 34 for use in watering and irrigation systems based on the use of plastics irrigation pipe, such as that pipe made from LDPE or PPVC plastics. The fitting has a male adaptor 36 of the type able to be used co-operatingly with a standard garden hose connector on one end and a tubular portion 40, preferably having a circumferential barb formation 42, the tubular portion being adapted to be pushed into and thereafter sealingly retained in a length of irrigaton pipe 30.
