PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of treating scleroderma or systemic sclerosis.SOLUTION: A composition is administered which contains a therapeutically effective amount of an antagonist of type I interferon (IFN). As the antagonist, an anti-IFN&alpha；R antibody or an anti-IFN&alpha； antibody is used. Thereby, scleroderma-associated symptoms are alleviated which are selected from the group consisting of dermal fibrosis, skin lesions, alopecia, inflammation, dermal thickening, collagen deposition, proteinuria, and complement deposition. The antibody is administered at a dose of about 0.03 to about 30 mg/kg.【課題】強皮症又は全身性硬化症を治療する方法の提供。【解決手段】I型インターフェロン（IFN）の拮抗薬の治療上有効量を含む組成物を投与する。該拮抗薬として抗IFNαR抗体或いは抗IFNα抗体が用いられる。これにより皮膚線維症、皮膚病変、脱毛症、炎症、皮膚肥厚、コラーゲン沈着、タンパク尿、及び補体沈着からなる群より選択される強皮症随伴症状を緩和することができる。抗体が約０．０３～約３０ｍｇ／ｋｇの服用量を投与する。【選択図】なし
