Provided are a system for confining an animal, which prevents an animal managed by a person from escaping from a specific area by using an image recognition technology, and a method for the same. The system for confining an animal according to the present invention comprises: a camera installed on the ground or at a structure on the ground to capture the specific area； a marker having a predetermined color, a predetermined shape, or both the color and the shape, and worn on the animal； a device worn on an animal including a stimulation applying means for applying a stimulus to the animal； and a control device which includes a memory for saving boundaries of the specific area and images of the marker, and controls the camera and the device worn on the animal. The control device recognizes the images of the marker in the images captured by the camera and drives the stimulation applying means of the device worn on the animal so as to control a stimulus to be applied to the animal when the images of the marker approach the boundaries of the specific area.
