An object to be solved by the present invention is to provide a composition for forming α-gel which has a high stability with no color development or crystal deposition over time, and a α-gel composition using the same.The α-gel composition comprises:(A) 25 to 50 mass% of 1 or more higher aliphatic alcohols having 16 or more carbon atoms and/or higher fatty acids,(B) 40 to 70 mass% of specific polyoxyethylene sterol ether, and(C) 5 to 20 mass% of specific polyoxyethylene dialkyl ester and/or ether, and is generated by adding water.
