The present invention provides compositions and methods that bind and inhibit Renalase. In one aspect, the Renalase binding molecule inhibits Renalase activity. Therefore, in diseases and conditions where reduction of Renalase activity is beneficial, Renalase-binding molecules having such an inhibitory action act as therapeutic agents.
