PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly photograph an eyeground image in the condition that a wavefront aberration is rectified.SOLUTION: The fundus photographing device with wave front compensation includes: a fundus imaging optical system which receives reflection from a fundus of an examined eye and photographs an eyeground image a wave front compensation device which is arranged in an optical path of the fundus imaging optical system, and controls a wave front of incident light and compensates a wavefront aberration of an examined eye a wavefront aberration detection light detecting system which gives measuring light towards a fundus of an examined eye, and receives reflection as an index pattern image by a wave front sensor and a position adjuster to relatively adjust a positional relationship of a detection light detecting system and an examined eye so that gap information may be settled in a tolerance based on gap information of an area which can be compensated of a wave front compensation device established on a wave front sensor and a light receiving area of an index pattern image by a wave front sensor.
