Described herein is a process for the aid to navigation of users, in particular for visually impaired and blind users, which includes the operation of detecting the position of the user (P) at a user-portable processing terminal (11) by means of a satellite positioning system (12), of transferring (15, 16) said user position (P) to a guide information processing module (17), of transferring from said guide information processing module (17) to said portable processing device (11) at least one guide information (C) obtained based on said user position (P). According to the invention, said at least one guide information (C) is toponymy information including one or more toponyms (TP) and one or more civic numbers NC associated with said one or more toponyms (TP), and said process includes generating and transferring to said portable processing terminal (11) a guide route toward a destination generated based on said toponymy information (C) and by means of a route search and construction process that evaluates a difficulty of pedestrian travel criterion based at least on the number of crossings associated with the route.
