PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for enhancing life activity and/or expanding suitable region for the life activity of a living body such as an animal or a plant in an aqueous solution which is the environment of the living body. SOLUTION: The method for enhancing life activity and/or expanding suitable region for the life activity relates to a mineral concentration in the water-based environment to which the living body is contacting and bringsα,α-trehalose and/or a carbohydrate derivative ofα,α-trehalose to be present in a water-based environment to which the living body is contacting.
