Composite materials for use in production of nappy closures comprise two nonwoven outer layers (1, 1'), between which are parallel strips (2) of elastic sheet. The outer layers are bonded to each other between the elastic strips to form non-elastic strips. They are transparent and are colored or printed with a pattern (3) which extends over both elastic and non-elastic areas.
