The invention relates to polysulfated glycosides of formula (I),(see formula I)wherein R1, R2, R3, R4, R5 and R6 independently of each other, stand for C1-4alkyl,--SO3H, polysulfated glycosyl or polysulfated diglycosyl group - with theproviso that atleast one of R1-R6 is a polysulfated glycosyl or polysulfated diglycosyl group- thepharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, as well as the pharmaceuticalcompositionscontaining these compounds as active ingredients. Furthermore the inventionprovides amethod of preventing, treating or alleviating the symptoms of acute andchronicinflammatory disorders of the airways of mammals - including asthma and asthma--relatedpathologies.
