The fluid management system includes a disposable cassette carrying inflow and outflow tubing sections configured for releasable engagement with a console including a control unit and a pair of roller pump heads. The console can automatically identify the disposable cassette and meter the fluid in the inflow source. During operation, the system can monitor pressure in the workspace, provide inflow and outflow control, and maintain any desired operating parameters. The console is accompanied by a first peristaltic pump rotor and a second peristaltic pump rotor.
