Antimicrobial compositions are described comprising a least one biguanide compound and at least one hydrocarbon surfactant comprising a saturated or unsaturated C2-C4 diol moiety and optionally further comprising alkoxy groups. In some embodiments, the composition further comprises an aqueous or hydrophilic liquid carrier. In favored embodiments, the diol surfactant is present in an amount such that the antimicrobial activity of the biguanide antimicrobial compound is improved. Also described are articles comprising the described antimicrobial composition and methods of use of the antimicrobial composition.L'invention concerne des compositions antimicrobiennes comprenant au moins un composé de biguanide et au moins un tensioactif d'hydrocarbure comprenant une fraction de diol C2-C4 saturée ou insaturée et, éventuellement, comprenant en outre des groupes alcoxy.
