<;P>;PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for conditioning intestinal environment by using symbiotics, a combination of probiotics and prebiotics. <;P>;SOLUTION: The method for conditioning intestinal environment comprises oral administration of symbiotics comprising (A) prebiotics and (B) probiotics so as to induce production of butyric acid from lactic acid and sugars inside the intestinal tract and conditioning of the intestinal environment. The (A) prebiotics comprise hydrolyzed endosperm of Cyamopsis tetragonolobus characterized by (1) galactomannan having a weight-average molecular weight of 3-50 kDa obtained by gel filtration on high-performance liquid chromatography using pullulan as a molecular marker and (2) a protein content of ≤1.0% calculated by multiplying a nitrogen content measured by a Kjeldahl method by a coefficient of 6.25. The (B) probiotics comprise one or more chosen from bifidobacteria, lactic acid bacteria, Bacillus subtilis, butyric acid-producing bacteria, lactic acid-utilizing bacteria and propionic acid-producing bacteria and has a water content of ≤20%. <;P>;COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
