PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balloon catheter capable of preventing a balloon from being caught in a narrow section and allowing it to advance to a desired position.SOLUTION: A balloon catheter 10 includes a balloon 14 provided at the tip of a shaft 12, and a distal tip 26 positioned at and fixed to a tube 16 inserted into the shaft 12. The outer diameter of the distal tip 26, the outer diameter of the balloon 14 before expansion, and the outer diameter of the tip of the shaft 12 are set to be approximately the same. The balloon 14 includes a proximal end 20 facing the shaft 12, a distal end 22 facing the distal tip 26, and an expanding part 24 disposed between the proximal end 20 and the distal end 22 and separated from the tube 16.
