Articles 2 for stamping are transported along a first conveyance path 4, the flow being split into at least two, parallel, second conveyance paths 8, 10 and using at least two parallel stamping units 12, 14 to stamp the articles on the second conveyance paths, the flows then being merged such that the articles are transported along a single third conveyance path 18. The splitting unit 6 may be a branching or bifurcation of a conveyor belt. The articles may be lifted on a table 24 for stamping, or the stamping heads may move vertically to contact the articles. Multiple stamping heads 22 may be arranged in serious along each second conveyance path. The articles may be stamped during transport along the second conveyance path i.e. without stopping the conveyors or belts, the stamping heads being supported on a frame moving along rails, or the conveyors may be stopped. The stamping may be cold stamping of food products e.g. chocolate or dough, the stamping heads being cooled.
