The described invention provides methods and compositions for treating diabetes and hyperglycemia in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal a therapeutic amount of a glucagon depleting compound. Also provided are methods and compositions for eliciting a bihormonal response in a mammal comprising administering to the mammal a therapeutic amount of a glucagon depleting compound. The glucagon depleting compound is effective to normalize glucagon, insulin, glucose, glycated hemoglobin (HgAlC) and C peptide in a mammal suffering from diabetes.Linvention décrite concerne des procédés et des compositions pour traiter le diabète et lhyperglycémie chez un mammifère, comprenant ladministration au mammifère dune quantité thérapeutique dun composé réduisant le glucagon. Linvention concerne également des procédés et des compositions destinés à induire une réponse bi-hormonale chez un mammifère, comprenant ladministration au mammifère dune quantité thérapeutique dun composé réduisant le glucagon. Le composé réduisant le glucagon est efficace pour normaliser le glucagon, linsuline, lhémoglobine glyquée (HgAlC) et le peptide C chez un mammifère souffrant du diabète.
