Disclosed are an X-ray imaging device having an improved structure to relieve pain to a patient during an X-ray imaging procedure, and a control method thereof. The X-ray imaging device, taking an X-ray image by pressurizing a subject, includes: an X-ray source generating and radiating X-ray to the subject； an X-ray detector including a subject touching part touching the subject, and detecting the X-ray, which has penetrated the subject, and then converting the X-ray into an electric signal； and a paddle placed between the X-ray source and the X-ray detector to be elevatable to pressurize the subject located on the subject touching part. The paddle includes: a support member； a pressurizing member combined with the support member to pressurize the subject； and at least one control member placed between the support member and the pressurizing member to control the movement of the pressurizing member depending on the shape of the subject when the pressurizing member pressurizes the subject.엑스선 촬영 과정에서 환자에게 가해질 수 있는 통증을 경감시킬 수 있도록 개선된 구조를 가지는 엑스선 영상 장치 및 그 제어방법을 개시한다. 대상체를 압착하여 엑스선 영상을 촬영하는 엑스선 영상 장치는 엑스선을 발생시켜 상기 대상체에 조사하는 엑스선 소스, 상기 대상체와 접촉하는 대상체 접촉부를 가지고, 상기 대상체를 투과한 엑스선을 검출하여 전기적 신호로 변환하는 엑스선 검출기 및 상기 대상체 접촉부 상에 위치하는 상기 대상체를 압착할 수 있도록 상기 엑스선 소스 및 상기 엑스선 검출기 사이에 승강 가능하게 배치되는 패들을 포함하고, 상기 패들은 지지부재, 상기 대상체를 압착할 수 있도록 상기 지지부재에 결합되는 가압부재 및 상기 가압부재가 상기 대상체를 압착하였을 때, 상기 대상체의 형상에 따라 상기 가압부재의 움직임을 조절할 수 있도록 상기 지지부재 및 상기 가압부재 사이에 배치되는 적어도 하나의 조절부재를 포함할 수 있다.
