PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glycerol suspension of ascorbic acid useful as an ascorbic acid-containing cosmetic base giving a superior sense of use (spreadability and smoothness when applied to the skin).SOLUTION: Provided is a glycerol suspension of ascorbic acid wherein the content of ascorbic acid is 13 mass% or more. Part of the ascorbic acid is dissolved in glycerol at a concentration of 8-12 mass%, and the remaining ascorbic acid is deposited as fine crystal grains 25 &mu；m or less in size and uniformly dispersed.【課題】使用感（皮膚につけたときの伸び、滑らかな感触）に優れるアスコルビン酸を含有する化粧品基材として有用なアスコルビン酸のグリセリン懸濁液を提供すること。【解決手段】アスコルビン酸含有量が１３質量％以上であって、該アスコルビン酸の一部が、グリセリンに８～１２質量％の濃度で溶解しており、残りのアスコルビン酸が粒径２５μｍ以下の微細結晶として析出し、且つ均一分散してなることを特徴とするアスコルビン酸のグリセリン懸濁液。【選択図】図１
