A pharmaceutical composition for use in the oral treatment or prevention of rheumatoid arthritis in a patient in need, comprising a therapeutically effective amount of free or salt calcitonin and an administration agent for calcitonin together with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable diluents or excipients therefore, said administration agent being selected from the group consisting of 5-CNAC, SNAD and SNAC and their pharmaceutically acceptable salts, wherein said free or salt form calcitonin is provided to said patient in a range of administration between 0.4 mg and 2.5 mg for an average human being of approximately 70 kg once or twice a day.Una composición farmacéutica para su utilización en el tratamiento oral o la prevención de la artritis reumatoide en un paciente que lo necesita, que comprende una cantidad terapéuticamente eficaz de calcitonina en forma libre o de sal y un agente de administración para calcitonina junto con uno o más diluyentes o excipientes farmacéuticamente aceptables por consiguiente, seleccionándose dicho agente de administración del grupo consistente en 5-CNAC, SNAD y SNAC y sus sales farmacéuticamente aceptables, en donde dicha calcitonina en forma libre o en forma de sal se proporciona a dicho paciente en un intervalo de administración de entre 0,4 mg y 2,5 mg para un ser humano medio de aproximadamente 70 kg una o dos veces al día.
