FIELD: physics.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a variable curvature catheter (4) with a high ability to maintain the desired curvature comprising a main part (8) of the catheter that extends from the proximal end (12) to the distal end (16) and has a side wall (20) that forms, at least, one cavity (24)； the main part (8) of the catheter comprises at the distal end (16) a section (28) with a variable curvature, which ends in the form of a tip (32). At least, one traction conductor (36) with an upward thread (40) is enclosed within the cavity (24), which extends from the proximal end (12) to the distal end (16) so that, at least, partially, it passes through the section (28) with the variable curvature, at least, up to the first branch (44). The traction conductor (36) extends from the first branch (44), at least, partially, passes through the variable curvature section (28), exits the variable curvature section (28), and reconnects with the upward thread (40) at the first branch (44) to form a closed loop (48), at least, partially, passes through the variable curvature section (28), curving back on itself on the first branch (44). The traction conductor (36) after curving back on itself into a loop (48) on the first branch (44) extends to the proximal end (12) along the downward thread (52). The downward thread (52) is shifted relative to the upward thread (40) within the limiting means (64, 68, 72) connected to the upward yarn (40) at the first branch (44). The limiting means (64, 68, 72) provides a relative shift of the downward thread (52) with respect to the upward thread (40) and the closure in the form of a loop (48), passes through the traction conductor (36) along the section (28) with the variable curvature. When applying the tension to the upward conductor (40) instead of this and releasing the downward conductor (52), the curvature is reduced and the conductor can be completely removed, leaving the catheter lumen (24) free.
