A device for monitoring the power supply of an electrical consumer/load (11) has a mains drop-out circuit for recognizing the drop-out of the power supply, and a signal generator for providing a signal during failure of the power supply, and a power source for the signal generator. The mains drop-out circuit, the signal generator and the power supply source are arranged in an adapter housing for looping through the power for the consumer/load. -
