A patient interface for supplying a breathing gas flow to a patient's airway may comprise a thermal moisture exchanger (HME). A hot moisture exchanger (HME) may be located in the flow path of the breathing gas flow. A thermal moisture exchanger (HME) may absorb heat and moisture from the gas exhaled by the patient, and the incoming breathing gas stream to be delivered to the patient's airway is a thermal moisture exchanger.
