A luminaire comprising a lamp fitting which has a lamp holder plate having a screw thread at one end and a lamp lamp holder adjacent the plate which has a lamp socket. A fastening means attached to the screw thread is also provided. An earth plate is located between the lamp holder plate and the fastening means such that tightening the fastening means on the screw thread clamps the earth plate therebetween.
