The present invention relates to a chewable composition comprising lanthanum, comprising a pharmaceutically effective amount of a lanthanum compound； and at least one chewable pharmaceutically acceptable excipient. The invention also relates to a pharmaceutical formulation in the form of a tablet or powder containing a pharmaceutically effective amount of a lanthanum compound prepared according to a method comprising the steps of: a) mixing powdered forms of lanthanum compound and at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient in a mixer to form a mixture； or b) mixing powder forms of lanthanum compounds and auxiliary substances, pressing the resulting combination into an aggregated material or pressing the formed combination in the rollers to form a tape-like material, grinding the manufactured material into a freely flowing mixture； and c) tableting the resulting mixture or filling the resulting mixture with an appropriate container.Pellets bestående av tørkede sammenpressede proteiner og med et fuktighetsinnhold på maksimum 12% er beskrevet.
