This invention relates to a slipcover 10 comprising or consisting of an antimicrobial agent-generating article 22 for use with a container 14 for transporting or storage of fruit. The invention further relates to a method of preventing or inhibiting the growth of microorganisms, particularly fungal organisms, in packaged fruit comprising the use of the slipcover of the invention. The cover may include slits 18 to receive stacking feet or lugs 20 of the container, the container may be stacked one on top of the other. The antimicrobial agent-generating article may include a dual-release sulphur dioxide generating article. The antimicrobial agent-generating article may include an ethylene scrubber or carbon dioxide generating article or both. The container may have a plurality of apertures for air flow and cooling and may include moisture resistant material such as plastic, wax coated or wax paper lined.
