Disclosed is a piperidine derivative which has an excellent antagonistic activityon a histamine receptor, and which is therefore useful as an active ingredientfor a pharmaceutical composition, particularly an anti-histaminic agent orthe like. The piperidine derivative has a potent antagonistic activity on ahistamine receptor. Further, when the compound is orally administered to amouse in an intracerebral receptor binding test, the compound exhibits low penetrationinto the brain. Therefore, the compound has reduced adverse side effects onthe central nerve system including sleepiness, and is therefore preferred. The piperidine derivative is extremely useful as a novel anti-histaminic agenthaving reduced adverse side effects on the central nerve system including sleepiness.
