PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image display system that displays images corresponding to lesion deformation, and stereoscopically displays depth information on tumor or the like, in an easily visible way and in real time, when stereoscopic images and volume images are displayed to be superimposed.SOLUTION: The medical image display system includes: a stereoscopic observation device 101 a stereoscopic image display 107 a tomographic image acquisition device 102 for acquiring tomographic images a volume image construction unit 103 for constructing the volume images from multiple tomographic images relative position detection units 104, 106 for detecting relative positions of the stereoscopic images and the volume images and an image superimposing unit 105 for superimposing the volume images on the stereoscopic images, based on the relative positions. The relative position detection unit includes: a calculation unit for calculating distance information from the stereoscopic images to respective points on a subject a surface shape image construction unit for constructing surface shape images using the distance information from the stereoscopic images a correlation unit for determining the relative positions of the surface shape images and the volume images and a deforming unit for deforming the volume images according to the deformation of the surface shape images.
