Differently structured input signals (6a,7a,9a) in different tracking systems (6,7,9) are fed to a transformation device, which generates a uniform output signal (15a) from each of the differently structured input signals for transmission to a common steering device (10) for automatic tracking. Tracking systems are optical, acoustic, visual, mechanical, ultrasonic or infrared. An independent claim is also included for a device for transforming differently structured signals in different tracking systems.
