PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical device which can be inserted into a narrow portion of a lumen of a living body and efficiently and safely expand an appropriate position as well as change the expansion capability as needed, and also to provide a treatment method using the medical device.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a medical device 1 to expand a lumen of a living body, the medical device comprising: an elongated sheath 2 insertable into a lumen of a living body； a transducer unit 41 received in a distal portion of the sheath 2 to acquired image information； a balloon 5 mounted to an external periphery of the sheath 2 to expand by liquid flowed thereinto； and a shaft part 8 connected to the balloon 5 to extend to a proximal side and axially movable relative to the sheath 2.
