A head trunk brush device (1) is provided for automatically brushing the head and/or the trunk of an animal, comprising a frame (2) and at least one rotatable brush (6, 7) which is connected to the frame (2) and which is rotatable about an axis of rotation (8, 10). The device further comprises a drive member for rotatably driving the brush (6, 7), wherein said brush (6, 7) comprises a carrier which extends substantially perpendicularly with respect to a drive shaft of the drive member and is capable of being coupled thereto. The brush is provided with brush bristles (20, 29) extending substantially perpendicularly from the carrier and in the direction of the axis of rotation (8, 10).
