AN ABSORBENT ARTICLE INCLUDING NONWOVEN FABRIC THAT HAS AN UNEVEN SURFACE AND THROUGH WHICH LIQUID INCLUDING EXCREMENTS EASILY PERMEATES. A SANITARY NAPKIN (501) HAS CONVEX PORTIONS (2) FORMED ON A FIRST SHEET MEMBER (502) SO AS TO EXTEND IN THE LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION (LD) AND ALSO HAS CONCAVE PORTIONS (1) FORMED ADJACENT IN THE LATERAL DIRECTION (WD) TO THE CONVEX PORTIONS SO AS TO EXTEND IN THE LONGITUDINAL DIRECTION (LD). SIDE EDGE AREAS (8) OF EACH CONVEX PORTION HAVE SUBSTANTIALLY UNIFORM FIBER DENSITY IN THE THICKNESS DIRECTION (TD) OF THE NONWOVEN FABRIC (110), AND THIS FIBER DENSITY IS HIGHER THAN AVERAGE FIBER DENSITY IN THE CONVEX PORTION. ALSO, A CENTRAL AREA (9) HAVING A GREATER THICKNESS THAN THE SIDE EDGE AREAS OF EACH CONVEX PORTION HAS SUBSTANTIALLY UNIFORM FIBER DENSITY IN THE THICKNESS DIRECTION (TD) OF THE NONWOVEN FABRIC, AND THIS FIBER DENSITY IS LOWER THAN AVERAGE FIBER DENSITY IN THE CONVEX PORTION.
