An anti-microbial composition comprising: (i) a C1 to C4 monohydric alcohol carrier fluid, present at a level of at least 25 % by weight of the total composition (excluding any volatile propellant present) (ii) an iron (III) chelator having an iron (III) binding constant of 1023 or greater (iii) a solubility promoter selected from the group consisting of: (a) water (b) an organic amine (c) a polyhydric alcohol or derivative thereof (d) a volatile propellant having fluorine-carbon or oxygen-carbon bonds (e) any combination of (a) to (d). The transitional metal chelator serves as an active anti-microbial, whilst the carrier fluid-solubility promoter mixture enables the formation of a stable composition. Preferred compositions are homogeneous solutions.Linvention concerne une composition antimicrobienne comprenant: (i) un fluide porteur dalcool monohydrique C1 à C4, présent à un niveau correspondant à au moins 25 % en poids de lensemble de la composition (à lexception de tout propulseur volatil présent) (ii) un chélateur de fer (III) comprenant une constante dassociation au fer (III) de 1023 ou supérieure (iii) un promoteur de solubilité choisi dans le groupe comprenant: (a) de leau (b) un amine organique (c) un alcool polyhydrique ou un dérivé de celui-ci (d) un propulseur volatile a volatil comprenant des liaisons fluor-carbone ou oxygène-carbone (e) toute combinaison de (a) à (d). Le chélateur métallique de transition est utilisé comme antimicrobien actif, alors que le mélange du promoteur de solubilité avec le fluide porteur permet la formation dune composition stable. Les compositions optimales sont des solutions homogènes.
