The method includes transmitting an ultrasound signal to an object to receive an echo signal corresponding to the ultrasound signal from the object, generating an ultrasound image, based on the received echo signal, detecting cross-sectional information indicating which cross-sectional surface of the object the generated ultrasound image shows, and displaying the ultrasound image and a cross-sectional information image corresponding to the detected cross-sectional information.
