An ursolic acid is a triterpenoid substance contained in edible and medicinal plants and is a bioactive substance against cancer, diabetes, and obesity, or the like. Although it has not been reported that the ursolic acid is effective to anti-tuberculosis, the present experiments verified that the ursolic acid is remarkably effective to anti-tuberculosis and can be used as a novel natural product derived anti-tuberculosis medicine using the same. The anti-tuberculosis medicine using ursolic acid can be used as a novel medicine if there is no proper drug to treat multidrug resistant tuberculosis and supertuberculosis due to resistance of the existing tuberculosis treatment drug. Therefore, the anti-tuberculosis medicine using ursolic acid can be used as a proper medicine for a lot of patients who are suffered from an absence of a suitable drug. Also, as the anti-tuberculosis effects can be improved when the ursolic acid is mixed with hydroquinone, a novel natural product medicine can be developed using the complex synergy effects.Ursolic acid는 식용 및 약용식물에 함유된 triterpenoid 물질로서 항암, 당뇨, 비만 등의 다양한 생리활성을 가지고 있는 물질이다. 그러나 기존에는 항결핵에 대한 효과가 보고된바 없으나 본 실험에 의해서 우수한 항결핵 효능을 가지고 있으며, 이를 활용한 신규 천연물유래 항결핵 치료제도 사용될 수 있음을 확인하였다.상기의 ursolic acid를 이용한 항결핵 치료제는 기존 결핵치료 약물의 내성으로 인한 다제내성 및 수퍼 결핵에 대하여 적절한 치료 약물이 없는 경우 신규 치료제로서 사용이 가능하여 약물 부재로 고통 받는 수많은 국내외 환자에게 적절한 치료제로 사용될 수 있다.또한 ursolic acid는 hydroquinone과 혼합 시에 항결핵 효능을 높일 수 있으므로 이와 같은 복합 시너지 효과를 활용한 신규 천연물신약으로의 개발도 가능하다.
